This is a gentle introduction to yoga for students who have never taken a yoga class, are beginners to yoga (attended less than 10 classes) or need a refresher for their yoga practice. You will learn the foundation of Hatha Yoga, Simple Meditation Techniques and Breathing Exercises. This can be the beginning of an exciting journey toward your increased well being. |

Yoga for People with Developmental Disabilities These classes and programs are designed for people with intellectual and physical disabilities who may need assistance or a great deal of motivation to try yoga poses. The visualization, imagination and meditation component of the classes may help with anxiety, depression and aggressive behaviors. The yoga poses, stretching and movement can increase flexibility, strength and increase well being as well as provide an outlet for creative expression. These programs can be tailored to best meet the needs of your activity schedule, your program budget, staff and program participants. I am also available for consultation if you would like assistance designing IHP goal modifications, completing release forms or keeping daily training records. This class will move gently and slowly through a flow series of poses. Postures will be held longer and emphasis on form and feeling good. No down dogs or full sun salutes here! The restorative portion of the class will be poses supported by blocks, bolsters and blankets allowing the body to rest, open, reduce stress, anxiety and tension. |
Challenging, aerobic and intense. We will move through a series of yoga poses and intersperse movements to increase core strength and flexibility. More advanced poses will be introduced as well. |
Pajamas welcome at this energizing and relaxing way to start your day.
